Kingdom Hearts (My Way)

Chapter 3

     “Ready to lose?” Riku said to me.

     No…  You’re going to lose…  I thought.

     “You two ready?” Kairi asked.  Riku and I nodded.  “Go!”

     I charged at Riku.  He was going to pay for what he said.  I swung my pole at him, and he easily dodged it.  I felt a slight stinging as Riku hit me in the arm.  I ignored it and we continued exchanging blows.

     Dodging and blocking, I quickly formulated a plan on how to win.  There was a nearby tree.  I hoped it would work.  I quickly dodged another thrust of Riku’s sword and ran towards the tree.

     “Running away?” Riku said, racing after me.

     No way I’m running away this time…

     He was walking straight into my trap.  I ran up the tree and grabbed a branch with my hand that was not holding my pole.  I kicked hard against the tree and back flipped through the air and landed on my feet behind Riku.  But the jump was too much for me.  I squatted on the sand for a second, and that was all it took for Riku to realize my plan.  By the time I stood up, Riku struck me in the stomach with his sword and I fell back into the sand.  But I still had a grip on my pole.

     “Good plan, but not good enough.” Riku said, pointing his sword at my neck..

     I smirked.  Right Riku…  I did not expect this, but I planned ahead in case of the worst…

     Quickly, I kicked the sword out of his hand and used my pole to sweep his feet out from under him.  I pushed the end of my pole onto his chest, pinning him down.  I could tell from his face, that I was hurting him.

     “Did you expect this?” I sneered.

     I looked down at him.  I saw how pathetic he was, letting his guard down for one second.  It cost him, dearly.

     “Okay… you win.” Riku said with a tone of anguish in his voice.  “I’ll share one with you.”

     And then, I felt something snap.  I was myself again.  It was as if someone else had taken control of me and fought Riku.  I fell to my kness and dropped my pole.  Really, what was I doing?!?  I could have killed him in that move!!  I’m also forcing him to do something that he didn’t want to do!!  Man, I must be the biggest idiot of all time!

     “Estrell?” Riku said and sat up.  “You alright?”

     “Sorry…  I shouldn’t have forced you…” I said.

     “Estrell, I–” Riku started to say as he put a hand on my shoulder.

     “Riku.”  I pushed his hand off me.  “What’s done is done.  You don’t want me, then I don’t want you.  We’ll never be together.”

     “Estrell, I didn’t—”

     “Riku, just leave me alone… please…” I whispered as tears streaked down my face.

     Riku stood up and left without saying another word.  I felt my heart breaking.  I wished I had never gotten a crush on him.  I never knew he was so heartless.

     “Estrell.”  Kairi sat down next to me.  “Maybe you should go home now.”

     I looked up at the pink clouds.  It was getting late.

     “I’ll talk to you tomorrow, ‘kay?” Kairi said.  “But don’t feel too bad.  Riku has been pretty heartless.  And you guys just met.”

     “I guess…” I muttered.  “Well, see ya…”

     “’Kay, bye Estrell.”

     I walked off with new thoughts in my mind.  What if nobody did care about me?  I mean that was the reason why I came to this island in the first place.  Nobody cared if I disappeared.  That’s why one night I ran off and stowed away on a boat…
